Default vocabulary

what is the best way to build up my vocabulary? I tried to memorise the words,but no improvement,any one can give me some tips to maintain good vocabulary?

CONVRESATION! Or, try not looking subtitles on some film, series, etc... If you do not understand, look up...

You have to use a word to remember it. Try keeping a journal or dictionary, and after finding a new word incorporate it into you writing.
