Smile overdue

It's a common practice for teachers here to mark "Overdue!" on a student's assignment if he or she is late in handing it in. I wonder what the teachers in your country mark on the student's assignment it the same thing occurs there. Thanks.

Hi Angliholic

In my neck of the woods, teachers might write "Late" directly on the assignment and/or in the gradebook.

If a student's assignment is overly late, the teacher might in fact refuse to correct it at all.

Thanks, Ben and Philly.

By the way, what does "In my neck of the woods" mean? Thanks.

"In my neck of the woods"

Judging from the context, I think it means:

"In my part of the world" or "Where I live"

All the best

Thanks, Noego.
I concur with you, but does that mean it's not commonly used?

It's a pretty common American expression.

Thanks, Barb.
Btw, since it's a common expression, why did you say, "Judging from the context,...?" This fooled me.

Sorry, one of these days I'll remember to quote what I'm referring to.
I meant "neck of the woods" is pretty common.

I wasn't the one who said "judging by the context."

Sorry, Barb.
Then it's I that should apologize to you. I confused you with Noego.

Sorry...........
