Default Can I use subjunctive for I hope ?

English grammar rules I learned tell me I should use subjunctive for sentenses start with "I wish...". My question is can I do the same for "I hope" ? To me, both convey the same meaning.

For example,

1) I wish you were right and I were wrong.
2) I hope you were right and I were wrong.

Are these two sentenses grammatically correct ?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would only use #1. We don't use "hope" to express regret.
