Default else?

If I've promised some someone to visit, but suddenly I've to go somewhere else. Can I say "Sorry, I've got to go somewhere else. I can't come today."?

Is the underlined 'else' really necessary?

Also, please tell me some more ways I can say this?

Default Re: else?

Yes, the else is necessary because you have to be "somewhere else."

I'm sorry, something has come up that I need to take care of.
