I'm not sure why I'm making my own rules up, some times I feel like the there should be a pause when there should not.

O by the way,
See that sentence above I just posted: the one that reads; I'm not sure why I'm making my own rules up,

Should that have a question mark? in that sentence I'm not expecting a response, rather I'm thinking it to myself, doses it still needs a question mark? I’m guessing that sentence would be what is known as rhetorical...right?

Actually, there is a very easy rule to keep in mind.
Whenever you've a WH-question as part of a lnoger sentence, there should be no comma.
Eg. I don't know what to do.
I didn't understand how/why/where........ .
