Let's say somebody's shoe lace is undone and I want to warn that person.
The "your shoe lace on your left half a pair of your shoes is undone" seems unnatural to me.
In my native language (Hungarian) we can say "your left shoe".
Of course I know that cannot be in English, however I wonder if one can express it shorter.
Some pairs that can't be separated, like pants, glasses and scissors are always plural, but other things that come in pairs, like shoes, gloves, stockings, socks, and dice can be referred to in the singular when you're talking about only one of the pair.
