    Default assessment

Your new sentence only talks about patients coming for treatment. Patients can also come to the clinic for diagnosis or assessment, including after-treatment follow-up/assessmment.

    What does `assessment' mean here?

    Please explain it.

Another synonym for assessment is 'evaluation'.

A patient's condition can be assessed/evaluated. Whether or not there is any need for (further) treatment, tests, etc. might be based on such an evaluation.

I'd rather say evaluation than check up.

Why? Can you give your reasons?
