Actually, there is no more context....it is the title in a section of a self-help aid book, but I'm not sure what does it mean.

It seems to be a metaphor taken from cookery - you insert a sharp object into cakes and meat to see if they are properly cooked. So I suppose it is saying that you have finally achieved whatever it was you set out to self help with.

Though, I don't know the context, I might say that the meaning is:

Insert a fork in me because the lid came off.

It's neither a metaphor nor a slang or idiom. It's a usual sentence
