Default military deferment?

hi,
2 questions:
1) military service is compulsory for males over 18 here. but if the person is a student at university, he can delay this duty after his graduation. what is this called? I found smth like 'military deferment' but I guess it's about some kind of loans..
2)if the person has some certain medical problems, he doesn't have to do his military service, what is this called?

thanks in advance...

Could you tell us which country? There may be different terms for British, American, Canadian and Australian forces.

Anglika, it's turkey. I found smth for question 1: postpone the induction of ...
is it correct? (context: a uni. st wants to mention in his CV that he has no military obligations for at least 2 years... how can we say it?)

"Postpone" is fine.
For (2) the person would be exempted from military duty.

In America, we call any excused mandatory military service a "military deferrment." There are different types of deferrments (medical, hardship, educational, etc.), but they are all called deferments.
