Default Indirect Objects

All Indirect Objects in English are taken by "dative" verbs? All Indirect Objects in English are taken by ditransitive verbs?

Default Re: Indirect Objects

Terminology is a problem, so instead of using the term verb, I'll opt for the term construct.

Ditransitive constructs are also called double object constructs, for example, Max gave Sam the book, whereas to-dative constructs look like this, Max gave the book to Sam.

Does that help?
