Would you be so kind as to say to me the meaning of "on one's plate"?
FOund here: "It was looking inceasingly uncertain whether peoduction schedules would allow him to direct all the projects on his plate"
May it mean "as he likes"; at easy; without urgencys?

It means too much to deal with.
For example,
I have to take the kids to the futbol game, buy groceries, do my homework and make dinner. Then my friend calls and asks me to take her to the concert. I said, "I can't right now because I have too much on my plate."
I am saying to her, I have too many things to do and I won't be able to help you.
I guees it means smth like your own responsibility,
You need to step up to the plate and be a good parent.
I'm not quite sure, but I think so.

"On your plate" means on your schedule, or your "to do" list.
"I can't drive the kids to soccer practice tomorrow, I already have too much on my plate!" :-)
Right idea, but wrong sort of 'plate' bianca. Having too much 'on your plate' is a reference to a dinner plate (being too full/overloaded, and not being able to eat it all - i.e., in the idiomatic sense, do it all).Quote:
