letter - correction
I am trying to take someone out to dinner sometime. So I wrote a note (see below). I would appreciate if anybody would correct wrong English usages.

I figured out your roommate's name is ***. So I assume your name is ***.
Nobody knows how it started. God knows when it started. I happened to have a desire to ask you whether you would be interested in having a dinner with me sometime. Can I expect your reply in my mailbox? My name is &&& (I'll let you know how to pronounce) and I live in the same house.

Oh dear! Too frank! Too forward! I don't think a note is a good idea at all; it would be better to find a convenient moment to speak to her or him in person, and let light conversation drift round to the subject of dinner.
