disillusionment
My friend Tom is known for disillusionment.
Could anyone rephrase the above sentence by removing `disillusionment'?
This will help me to understand the meaning of `disillusionment'. Don't tell me to look it up in dictionaries, I have already tried it but I can't grasp exact meaning. So I am wandering your help.

Either Tom is known to shatter everyone's illusions( ideals) or
Tom is used to being brought down to earth( so he is disappointed), because he is an idealistic .
