what exactly do the sentences below mean ? any difference?
1 I messed up .
2 I screwed it up
I appreciate it

They are about the same.
I messed up.
I screwed up.
Both mean "I made an error", "I did a bad thing".
I messed it up.
I screwed it up.
Both mean that the error was made in doing whatever "it" was.

I'd say that screwing things up is worse than messing things up. Messes can be sorted, sometimes, but when something's screwed, it's ruined.
