Installation of software

Hi teachers,

I am asked to write a weekly report for our team, which is in charge of computer programs.

I am hesitating which forms of reporting should I use:

1) "The software ABC has been installed on Wednesday, 23 May 2007"

or

2) "The software ABC was installed on Wednesday, 23 May 2007"

Please help.
