which is gramatically correct? a) they will going to have a concert b) they are going to have a concert? a friend of mine said that letter a represents future tense while letter b represents present tense. is letter a gramatically correct at all? she also says "i will going to" when i think it should be "i am going to"......pls. help...
I would choose the second sentence...about the first one i don't know what to say but it doesn't sounds familiar to me that tense. I say this form is correct : ''They are going to have a concert''. But! i would like to hear the best answer from a teacher too to be sure.
Your friend is incorrect - trust your instincts.
All of these are okay in American English.
They will have a concert (someday, when they are ready to perform).
They are going to have a concert (next Tuesday).
They are having a concert (here next Tuesday). (This can be future or present.)
They will be having a concert (here tomorrow, so we have to clear out all the tables).
dear carmenn and barb_d,
