I have a question for you.
In reported speech:
Ann: "I will sleep when I get tired"
becomes in indirect speech:
Ann said she would sleep when she got tired
or
Ann said she would sleep when she gets tired
What happens when you have more than one verb in a sentence? Which verb backshifts? sleep or get?
Thanks

both the verbs backshift, "Ann said she would sleep when she gets tired" sounds unfamiliar in this case
