1. I wish you 'Happy Birthday'.
2. I wish you 'Happy birthday'.
Have I to capitalise 'Birthday'?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I usually write 'Happy Birthday' in a card to someone but 'Happy birthday' or 'happy birthday' in normal writing (as in: '"Happy birthday," I said.' Or 'She had a very happy birthday').
Hope this helps.

I wish you a Happy Birthday = the anniversary (similar to a holiday - you don't write Christmas with a small 'c')
I wish you a happy birthday = stress on the day, have a happy day celebrating your birthday
I don't think Happy birthday would work at all
Thanks for your replies.
