two problems
1. What does 'sets of bedrooms' mean?
2. What does 'got out of the way of thinking' mean?

Re: two problems
1 It would mean a group of bedrooms, though it's a stange phrase to me.
2 It could mean avoiding doing the thinking or avoiding the consequences of the thinking. Can you give some more context?

Or it could mean 'lost the habit of thinking [academically]' - as a GAP-year student might. As Tdol said, we need more context.
