Default Dear MIKENEWYORK

1. so the sentence "I hear her singing an India song" means "I hear a woman is singing an India song" right?

2. Could her singing in the sentence used as gerund to make the sentence "I hear her singing an India song" mean "I hear the singing of an India song by a woman"?

Not exactly. There is a subtle shift in that construction.

I hear her singing an Indian song means that the speaker is actually listening to (or imagining) a woman singing a song.

I hear a woman is singing an India song is actually
Quote:
I hear that a woman is singing an India song
. That means that you have heard the rumor that a woman is singing an Indian song.

The meanings would be the same, yes. But the second sentence is clumsy.
