[quote="wendy"]1. so the sentence "I hear
her singing an India song" means "I hear a woman is singing an India song" right?[quote]
Not exactly. There is a subtle shift in that construction.
I hear her singing an Indian song means that the speaker is actually listening to (or imagining) a woman singing a song.
I hear a woman is singing an India song is actually
Quote:

2. Could her singing in the sentence used as gerund to make the sentence "I hear her singing an India song" mean "I hear the singing of an India song by a woman"?

The meanings would be the same, yes. But the second sentence is clumsy.
