two consecutive "that"
I wrote a phrase like this:
This is the same book that I thought earlier that few of its topics need further development. Is it correct to have 2 "that " consecutively like this. somehow it sound weird. I am wondering if i can improve the structure.

What is the relevance of "earlier"? Is there a larger context to which it refers? I would rephrase as follows:
