    Question "If I was you"

I was doing a test on conditionals. One of the answers stated that "If I was you" is an acceptable conditional sentence. I thought that "If I were you" is the correct conditional sentence.

    Please advise.

    Hello, PK.

For tests, 'If I were you' is usually the 'right' answer-- and it remains so for most careful writers. However, in informal English, 'was' is quite common, and is acknowledged by newer grammar books.
