"I am hurry! " Is this sentence correct?
Today I heard this sentence by a Canadian girl in response to someone
who urged her to come quick.
But hurry is a noun or verb, so I am confused. Pls help, thanks!
The sentence "I am hurry!" is incorrect. It should be "I am in a hurry!"Originally Posted by Anonymous
I'm not sure why the speaker used "I am hurry"--it could have been that she being in a rush at the time hadn't time to express 'in a', or it could have been the case that she omitted 'in a', the small words, as a way of making her sentence easier for her listener to understand. Speakers tend to do that when they are speaking with non-native speakers. At any rate, "I am hurry" is certainly not English, let alone Canadian English. :D
Casiopea is Canadian. 8)
If the girl is a native speaker, it is likely that she said "I am hurrying" and just didn't enunciate the last syllable. :wink:Originally Posted by Anonymous
