Default correct words to convey idea

I organised a party that was well-received/well received by the 300 people who attended (it).

Is 'it' required? I want to convey the idea that 300 people attended the party and they enjoyed it. I think well-received(?) is not quite suitable. If so, what is the appropriate word?

Thanks in advance.

It's not required, IMO, but it's also fine with it. 'Well-received' doesn't work for me- that would go with ideas, plans, schemes, etc. How about 'that went down well with the 300'?
