What does "busting" mean?

That the repairs to the damage will make the schedules impossible to maintain.

Generations of American children were taught never to use this "slang" version of the verb "to burst"---I know I was. It's still considered informal but is very widely used.

In this sense I would use "destroying." "Bust" has taken on a meaning wider that the original "burst."
