What does the expression "having time of my life" mean?

I know that you will ask for example, but as far as I am concerned I've heard that in some movie. And probably it was an answer to the "how are you doing?" question... So what can it mean?

It's 'having the time of my life' - short for 'having the most exciting/interesting/best time of my life'. So it means 'having a very good time'.
