to/by the disease of Malaria 100 men have succumbed to/by the disease of Malaria.
Please help me to choose the correct option.

Re: to/by the disease of Malaria ...have succumbed to (the disease of) Malaria. It is better to omit "the disease of".
...have been killed by Malaria.
...have died from Malaria.

So, I guess, we use the `preposition' by only in the passive voice.
