Default Harry Potter moves his flashlight...

Which sentence is correct?

1.Harry Potter moves his flashlight close to his book.
2.Harry Potter moves his flashlight closer to his book.

IMO, I think both are OK. But sentence 2 emphasizes more on the continuing action, it gives a vivid image. Like slow motion. Am I right?

They are both correct. In the first the movement is the first or only action with the flashlight. In the second, the flashlight was already pointing at the book and he then moved it nearer.

Do you mean that in sentence 1, the flashlight may not be pointing at the book, and he just happened to take it and moved it close to the book so that it was next to the book. In sentence 2, the flashlight was already pointing at the book, he moved it toward the book. Am I right?
