I am going to check the compass (If you want to know the direction)
I'm going to check out a compass (go into a shop and look at one with a view to buying)

Could you give me some example = 1 example

Could you give me some examples = more than 1 example.

So these are incorrect?

1. What are some other words with (an) exception like this. (Why is it incorrect without 'an' there?)
2. We don't have any problem here. (Why is this incorrect?)
3. I am going to check out some compass.

Correct?
4. We don't have a problem here.
5. Could you give me some example. (Correct?)

Why aren't these plural? What do they mean when they're singular and plural?
6. But exactly how 802.22 devices will share the airwaves with TV(s) remains, well, up in the air.

7. A market expected to grow when WiMAX equipment(s) becomes available next year.

What do these mean? I can't really figure out the difference between them.
8. The car can rev at low RPMs.
9. The car can rev at low RPM.
10. The car can rev at the low RPM.
11. THe car can rev at a low RPM.

1. What are some other words with exception like this. :(
=> 'exception' is a singular count noun
2. We don't have any problem here. :( But, OK if colloquial. :D
=> 'any' is plural (e.g. any problems)
3. I am going to check out some compass. :(
=> 'some' is plural (e.g. some compasses)
4. We don't have a problem here. :D
5. Could you give me some example. :(
=> 'some' is plural (e.g. some examples)
6. But exactly how 802.22 devices will share the airwaves with TV(s)remains, well, up in the air.
=> 'TV' refers to TV technology, whereas TVs refers to TV units.
7. A market expected to grow when WiMAX equipment(s) becomes available next year.
=> 'equipment' is a noun-count noun. By adding '-s', then speaker is making up a new word.
8. The car can rev at low RPMs. :D
=> The RPMs are low.
9. The car can rev at low RPM. :(
=> 'RPM' is a count noun (e.g. an RPM / the RPM)
10. The car can rev at the low RPM. :(
=> at the lowest RPM
11. THe car can rev at a low RPM. :D

All the best, :D
