about = in existence; current; prevalent: Chicken pox is about.
I come across the above meaning of `about' in the dictionary.com. From that I have made few sentences, please check whether it is correct or wrong.
Timu is about there. (I mean - Timu is existing there)
Birdflu is about in India. (I mean - Birdflu still existing in India)
Minu is about famous actor. [I mean - (Minu is `present/current' famous actor)]
Please help me.
All the above -mentioned sentences sound odd to me. The only use of 'about' in the sense of being in existence/evidence I've encounetred is in ex.
Rumours are about (going on/circulating)concerning his resignation / that they are getting married.
Timu is about there. (meaning, around; just turned three or is about to turn three) :tick:
Birdflu is about in India. (meaning, moving here and there) :tick:
Minu is about a famous actor. (meaning, regarding, deals with) :tick:
To my mind, it's only sentence 3 that is incorrect; the other two are fine. Cf.Quote:
