Hello! What's the difference between I feel hungry and I am feeling hungry? I understand that we can add "at the moment" only to first sentence but both refer to present. Is it that continuous form calls for action like "I am hungry and I want to eat now" while the second is more matter-of-factly?![]()
To be honest, I see no difference. You can add "At the moment" to both.
isnt it odd to say "im feeling hungry"? isnt it what some grammar books call "mental state verbs" and they should not be used in present continuous form?
You can use feel in continuous form. There are verbs you can't like, believe, remember, etc. but feel is used in both forms. :)
I reckon the continuous form of an abstract verb has an emphatic ring to it.
I feel hungry - I'm feeling hungry (more stressed, maybe)
I feel good - I'm feeling good (as answer to: How are you feeling?, stresses the frame of mind)
I'm loving it! (Mv Donald's slogan) (to highlight enthusiasm)
Agree with Bianca . ING forms emphasizes the verbal theme.
ok...thank you so much.
