Is it right to ask,

1. Which of these will cost you MUCH money?

2. Which of these will cost you A LOT of money?

Which one is appropriate to use MUCH or A LOT OF???

Both are correct but the second is much more likely to be said.

Yeah, I'm with you. "Much" is more formal than "a lot of", although their meaning is just the same.

Disclaimer: I am not a teacher.
But some grammar books tell us that:
(1) "a lot of" is used in positive statements; whereas
(2) "much" is used in negative statements and questions.

True, but much isn't part of the question here:
Ex: Which one will cost me much money?

It is here:
Ex: How much money will it cost me?
Synonyms
Which one will cost you more money?
Which one will cost you a lot of money?
Which one will cost you much money? <awkward>
