Do you mean before a consonant or a vowel? If so, there is no difference. "Of" is pronounced as a short u followeded by v.
It is the same sound as love withoput the L.
Most Americans can understand British accents, unless they are very heavy or very Cockney. :wink:

If you speak English with a standard British accent, you'll have no problems being understood.
