He is the temple about, you look for him in the temple. [I meant `not far off/nearby the temple]

I applied the above meaning in my second sentence where the `about' is an adverb. But if I put the `about' before the temple, it becomes a preposition.

Can I use as an adverb as in the dictionary?

As an adverb, it sounds better to me to say: He is somewhere hereabout.

or

He is out and about.
