Wrong????

My Co-worker says that this sentence is ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!

1. The student speaks ITS mind deliberately and loves to talk most of the time.

Why?. . . according to my co-worker that the possessive "ITS" is not appropriate to use in this sentence.

Also this one,

2. The student was asked to comply with the given statements thrown TO her in
relation our topic today.


Why?. . . . according to my co-worker the preposition "TO" should replaced by "AT" in this sentence.

So,, does my co-worker tell the right grammar when talking about "WORD FUNCTION"???

When we talk about people, we normally use he/she (with a few exceptions, for example babies). A student is a person, not an object, so I'd say it's natural to speak of his or her mind, not its mind.

My grammar is very bad, so I can't explain to you why we use "at" instead of "to" her, but your colleague is right.
