    Question In this regard

CALD says "in this regard" means "in this particular way" whereas thefreedictionary.com, that "in connection with this". These are quite different meanings, I think. Which is correct? Maybe both are? Is, then, anyone preferred?

    Thanks,
    Nyggus

Could it be a BrE/AmE difference?

I think of it as having the freedictionary's definition: As it relates to this aspect of things.

    [not a teacher]

Whereas Oxford says: in this (or that) regard in connection with the point previously mentioned.

I suspect a context is needed.
