Question 'thread'

As known that 'thread' is used in knitting, sewing, etc., what's it mean there

You have posted a question and I am adding a second post to answer it; we now have two connected posts. That is a thread. If someone else adds more, the thread will grow longer. The idea is similar to sewing- the posts are joined together in a similar way.

And, to pursue the analogy a bit further, someone (who should have started a new thread) may post a new question in your thread - so that we end up with a tangle of unrelated thoughts in a single thread.
