What is it when kids don't want talk anymore that they just stay in the corner angry with everybody? They even stomp their feet going to the room...

If a child gets angry and refuses to talk and just sits or lays somewhere, with his lower lip pooched out, we call this"pouting."

If the child actually stomps his feet in anger as he retreats to his room, it is called a "tantrum." Quite often a child in the midst of a tantrum will fling his body to the ground and kick his feet and pound the floor as he screams and cries in rage.

Also sulking. Sulking is pouting, without the lower lip.

My sister once observed, when my daughter was in a full pout, that she though an airplane could land on that lip.

* When her mother didn't consent to her desire to play, Ana threw a tantrum and locked herself in her room.

* She pouted in disappointment when her father broke his promise that they will see a movie today.

--- Please check! thanks!!!

When her mother didn't consent to let her have her friend over Ana threw a tantrum.
(It doesn't make sense that she would throw a tantrum and lock herself in her room.)

Use would instead of will.

Why not? Does tantrum already imply that someone would retreat to her room and lock up?

No. Tantrum says she shouted and screamed and stamped and shrieked, and definitely did not retreat to her room and shut the door. If she does that, then she is probably sulking.

Yep. Exactly. Tamtrums are loud. Sulking is quiet.

What I disagree with is the "as he retreats to his room" part. The whole point of a tantrum is to do it where everybody can see it.

tantrum - shouts "I'm angry"
sulking - whispers "I'm displeased"
pouting - same as sulking

Is this right?
