Smile help with double comparatives

i need help please...I was reading the newspaper and came across this writer who used "much faster"...is this acceptable? i just think it's a double comparative. thanks for your help.

Certainly.

A is faster than C. B is also faster than C. Of A and B, B is much faster.

"More faster" would be a double comparative, and incorrect. "Much faster" is fine.

Although "much" and "more" are similar in meaning, they are not exactly alike.
As Barb D says, "much faster" means "a whole lot faster."

A racing car is much faster than a donkey.
A turtle is only a little faster than a snail.
