The right answer to Question 1 is A. Why? It's a non-finite clause in the form of ellipsis,
(Being) nervous, the man opened the letter. =
The man was nervous while opening the letter.
As for Question 2, it's B that is the right answer. But you know it already. Why? The phrase
none the + superlative adjective means
not any + adjective (than before). Cf.
He's none the happier for his wealth. = He's not any happier for his wealth.
