Default until further notice

"THIS PUBLIC HOUSE IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE" - What does that "until further notice" mean? I assume we can find such a notice (or sign) for example on a pub's door, but what does it tell us? I don't understand it at all .

"Until further notice" means that they will provide some other or some new information in the[ near] future regarding this problem.
Further notice = additional information

Cool Re: until further notice

Hi,

''This public house is closed 'UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE' '' means the opening date has not been confirmed but the same would be intimated once if decided. Further notice is nothing but the date they inform/open

Is it quite confusing?

Thank you very much, your explanations made it clear to me. By the way, is it correct? It sounds a little weird to me to say "made it clear to me"....
