Default Whimsical?

Talking about hobbies and pastimes,
when one says "It's pretty whimsical of me to be doing things like this",
"Maybe I'm just being whimsical",
or "That's pretty shimsical of me",
does it mean this person is just doing something out of impulse and probably won't last for a long time?
