Could anyone please help me with the following?

As a result of all this teamwork, monastic-style though it may be, the sum of UPS is greater than the parts. Cult or no cult, no one individual dominates. UPS drivers work as superheroes work, tirelessly and seamlessly.

In the above, I don't understand what the bold expression is saying in the context. What does the "cult" mean there?

They've used a religious metaphor that extends the idea of 'monastic-style'. The second sentence is not very clear, because 'cult or no cult' refers to UPS - which isn't mentioned elsewhere in that sentence. What I believe it means is "Whether or not UPS behaves as if it were a cult, no one individual dominates.'
