I think the best way to augment your vocabulary is reading news papers and books. I usually mark the words that i don't know and refere to a good learners dictionary (like OXFORD advanced learners).
Also, it's fun to do vocabulary puzzles like word match tests, multiple choice tests etc, which you can find on the internet like knowyourenglish.com or even in the usingenglish.com, if you are lucky.
