Dear Friend,

I know I like English so much.But,I am so lazy.I am lazy Chinese girl.I never remember English words and I never read English books.So my English so poor.I don't know how to change my lazy mind and my lazy body or my lazy hand,my lazy head....

Here,I hope who tell me how should I do and how to change or how to change my lazy mind.How about your opinion?Please tell me,thank you so much

of Studying English



If there is a student complaint that I
have heard for a million times, it is this: Why isn't my English improving at
all? I have been studying for more than 6 months already but I feel my level is
still the same. My listening and speaking skills haven't upgraded. What
happened?



As a teacher, it's my job to encourage.
It is my job to tell the student to move ahead, to prod on despite the
difficulty because sooner or later, the goal is going to be reached. It is my
job to remind them that there is no royal way to English, that without pain
there is no gain, that with practice and more practice, perfection will be
attained. It is my job to give advice on how to study English and how to
organize one's study schedule in terms of priorities given the time limits
involved. After hearing this, my students move on ahead with a renewed sense of
purpose and with greater determination. I feel happy when I encourage. But I
must tell you this: after the counseling, I feel frustrated because there is
one thing I didn't tell you. I didn't tell you the shocking truth:" My student,
I'm very sorry but I really couldn't help you with your English. I am just your
teacher so I can help you only this much."



I have been a student of English myself
and I have learned that there is no better teacher for myself than myself. Sure
I have had great teachers, and sure I have spent countless hours doing my
homework. Sure, my teachers had taught me well. But there is one thing I
realized : my teachers could only help me this much. After a grammar or a
conversation class, I'd go outside and like magic, what I had learned in school
is forgotten. To be fair, what I had learned didn't really just vanish into thin
air, as if my teachers words just went into one ear and out the other. Something
is bound to get retained, but believe, that something is just a trickle. I have
learned a painful truth : being just a regular guy with a regular memory
retention, what I got from my teachers was only 20 percent. What I learned
myself is 80 percent .My teachers didn't teach me: I have taught myself. I
haven't been taught, I have learned.



I know this breaks the illusion of your
ever learning from your teachers. When I went to college, I was drunk with the
dream of absorbing every drop of information from my teachers brains, and if
they can't give more, I will squeeze out some more in the same way as you
squeeze blood out of a stone. I made recordings of their lecture, taking all
their word as gospel, and when I went home to review, I memorized it all
verbatim. And I had learned, but not from my my teachers. They were just models,
information sources that existed for that moment I was in the classroom. They
were like images on the cinema screen that exist only inside the theater, but
not in the outside. When I was outside, I was all on my own. Much as I wanted my
teachers to help me when I'm faced with that ultimate challenge of putting
theories to practice, I was helpless .My teachers didn't exist outside the
classroom. They have deserted me at that time I needed their help the most. They
have given me this illusion that they will give me the power I need to survive
in a cruel world, but they have abandoned me at this time of great need.



Your English teachers are well-meaning
people who sincerely desire that you master English, but the English skills they
promise is more an image than a reality. They want to fly out to help you when
you are faced with real-time situations that demands you use English fluently,
or die , but sadly they aren't the supermen they seem to be inside the
classroom. After you study with them, you are going to say good bye to them.
Your seat in the classroom will be emptied and occupied by a new set of
students. Where will you be then? You will have graduated from the protected
place that is your classroom...this classroom where your teachers understand
everything you say, and where you understand everything they say.. because they
speak so simply and are so friendly.. and out into the real world where you are
as naked as a baby. Can you get by with the English that you were lucky to have
retained? Could you survive with that meager 20 percent they gave you? Listen to
me: you cant. You cant. You cant because the world outside the classroom has
different games and different rules. People you meet wouldn't wait for you to
finish talking before they have their turn to speak. They would cut you off in
mid sentence and get on to business. If they find you uninteresting or slow,
they politely ask to leave. If you have misunderstanding in your communication,
they would bother much to ask for clarifications or explanation. The real world
moves so fast that your classroom training wasn't enough to give you the speed
to catch up. You must learn how to run. Your teachers gave you a crutch you can
use to learn how to walk. When you have learned how to walk, the crutch is taken
away and you are left on your own feet.. to grovel, to walk, or to run.



You must learn to accept one reality:
you can't survive with you teacher's 20 percent.



But here is what you can do: you can
teach yourself upgrade that 20 percent and make it rise astronomically till you
hit the 100 percent mark which is the hall mark of the greatest learner. You are
your best teacher forever. If you make yourself your own teacher, you will not
be abandoned at challenging times. You will encounter problems and you will
conquer them all, and come out a lot smarter and wiser.



Don't ever depend on your teachers so
much. You have to learn to stand on your own feet after your study term expires.
You must find ways to perpetuate the teaching and the learning process. Be
aggressive in your search for new classrooms, and be creative in how you learn
in these classrooms. The greatest classroom is your mind, and the best teacher
is your own brain. Use it.

So there you go, learn by yourself and learn from other people as well.... Your teachers are considered as one of the other people you can learn from, learn from almost anything that gets your way... but everything should start with you!!!
