Which of the following expressions would one expect to find in 1) a gardening magazine or website and 2) in travel writing?

a) in winter
b) during the winter months

The question seems odd to me. To me, both are possible.

Your "that one would find in a ...." is a relative clause. The "which", in your type of sentence, refers to the nature of the expressions. It's asking which expression is Standard?

In my question, the "which" asks which expression is found in which area of use.

Do you feel anything is missing from these examples? If so, what?

Which of the following cars that one can find in a car magazine
Which of the following pens that are normally in my pocket
