Default road

Hello

I am confused about the usage among a road, roadway, and vehicle way. How do they differ? I would appreciate it if I would be given sample sentences using each of these terms. Thank you so much in advance.

Sincerely,

Yui

There's little difference between 'road' andf 'roadway', though 'roadway' can be used to mean just the part vehicels use, rather than the pavement (sidewalk) for pedestrians. 'Roadway' is rarely used in British English. I haven't heard 'vehicle way', but the logical meaning would that that it is for vehicles only and not pedestrians.

I haven't heard vehicle way either, but I agree with Tdol.

Hello

I have assumed vehicle way is a term as against walkway or something as I get hits on the Internet for it. But now I see that it seems to be less familiar for native English speakers in both UK and USA. As for road and roadway, I often hesitate between them when translating them, but I think I now understand their difference. I appreciate your comments.

Thank you so much.
