Post He Told The Dog To Lay Down

HE TOLD THE DOG TO LAY DOWN

I was going through the pools that has been taken and I found this one for which I have a huge doubt..
I think it is a correct sentence but most of the people think this is not correct English..Who is right?
P.S: could you please tell me if you find grammar mistakes in this post?

thank you

It is a commonly spoken error. The correct form is "He told the dog to lie down".

Angelka is correct. One could say:

"He told the dog to lay down his bone", but that would have a different meaning.

Or provide an object for the transitive 'lay': "He told the dog to lay down the bone."
