Default Diffrence between "I have lit" and "I lit"

He

Can someone explain me the difference between: I have lit one (a cigarette) and I lit one (a cigarette)

I'm trying to figure out when to use "have" and when not

I'll start. Here are examples for have lit:

At present or before
Ex: I have (just now) lit a cigarette.
Ex: I know how to light a cigarette because I have lit one before.
