What is the technical name for the lid \cover?

Hello Everyone,

I am told that glass lids are used for their pans and pots in the kitchen in the western countries. The lids are of two types. One is completely made of glass, no stainless steel ring on the edge. By the way ,we chinese often call the lids with stainless steel ring as tempered glass lids.I would like to know here the technical name of the lids without the stainless steel ring? Do you call it glass lid ,Pyrex glass lid, borosilicate glass lid or others? What do you westerners actually call it in your daily life?

In daily life, I'd just say lid, though glass lid or pyrex lid would be fine.
